Ernesto Esposito by Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol, Ernesto Esposito, 1987
Shaped by Ernesto Esposito and his nieces’ art passion, noh-art is a contemporary art space created to bring together art lovers, collectors and curators. Ernesto Esposito is a celebrated designer of haute couture footwear who has worked together with the most famous company in the fashion world, from Marc Jacobs to Karl Lagerfeld and Chloé to Louis Vuitton. His passion for art started in 1970 after visiting an exhibition by Andy Warhol at the Musée d’Arte Moderne de la Ville in Paris. After this stunning show, he acquired his first piece of art: the “Electric Chair, 1964” by Andy Warhol thanks to the Neapolitan gallerist Lucio Amelio. Ernesto’s passion for travel has also helped him to establish real friendship with artists all around the world; at the age of twenty he met Cy Twombly, Robert Rauschenberg, Gerhard Richter, Jannis Kounellis and Gilbert and George.
Today, the Ernesto Esposito collection counts more than 900 works of the 20th and 21st century such as Andy Warhol, Joseph Beuys, Alex Katz, Ed Ruscha, Ilya Kabakov, Jannis Kounellis, Richard Prince and it includes paintings, photographs, videos, sculptures and installations. The famous shoe designer is also an inspired collector of 20th century furniture; his collection features magnificent pieces by major architects and artists of the period such as Charlotte Perriand, Mathieu Matégot, Pierre Jeanneret, Serge Mouille, Pierre Guariche and Le Corbusier. He does not follow a specific criteria or art movement: “When I buy art, I feel free and I do not have any restriction. Aesthetic, beauty and proportion are the three elements that combined with my instinct, have always helped me to select the works that best suit in my collection”. Inspired by the founder’s own art collection and his deep knowledge of the art market, noh-art offers bespoke art services tailored to the specific requirements of its clients. Thanks to Ernesto Esposito’s experience, noh-art wishes to share the expertise he gained over the last 25 years within its community giving them the opportunity to find the piece of art they love.
